No More Rare Loot from Nightmare Dungeons in S9?! Here’s Why

In Diablo 4, Nightmare dungeons used to be one of the best places to farm — tough fights, cool mechanics, and most importantly, a solid shot at rare loot. A lot of players ran them nonstop just for the chance at those juicy drops. But in Season 9, things are different.

So, what happened?

Well, one of the big reasons Nightmare dungeons don’t drop rare items anymore is because Blizzard changed up the loot system. They’re trying to make the game feel more balanced and fair for everyone, so the way rewards work has been reworked. Basically, they’ve shifted the focus away from Nightmare dungeons being the go-to loot farms.

That means the days of farming rare gear easily from Nightmare runs? Yeah… those are pretty much over.

The decision to remove rare item drops from Nightmare dungeons in Season 9 of Diablo 4 was not made lightly. The developers wanted to address the issue of power creep in the game, where players were becoming too powerful too quickly by farming Nightmare dungeons for rare items. By adjusting the loot system, the developers hope to create a more balanced and competitive environment where players must work harder and strategize more effectively to obtain rare and valuable items.

While rare item drops may have been removed from Nightmare dungeons, players can still expect to find a variety of valuable rewards and challenges within these dungeons. Players may encounter unique monsters, powerful bosses, and rare crafting materials that can be used to enhance their gear and improve their characters. Additionally, Nightmare dungeons still offer a thrilling and challenging experience for players looking to test their skills and teamwork.

With the removal of rare item drops from Nightmare dungeons, players will need to adjust their gameplay strategies and focus on other ways to obtain valuable items and progress in the game. This may include participating in group activities, completing side quests, and exploring other areas of the game world to find rare and powerful gear. By adapting to the changes and embracing the new loot system, players can continue to enjoy the rich and immersive world of Diablo 4 Season 9.

While the absence of rare item drops in Nightmare dungeons may come as a surprise to some players, the changes made in Season 9 of Diablo 4 have been done with the intention of creating a more balanced and engaging gameplay experience.

GGG loves to tie gameplay to lore, so “The Third Edict” might connect old storylines from PoE 1 to the chaos of PoE 2. Wouldn’t be surprised if we stumble into forgotten history that explains some of Wraeclast’s nastier mysteries. Enemy and Boss Design (aka Pain) Let’s be real—new enemies are guaranteed. And because it’s GGG, they’ll probably two-...
